What Is The Prime Catcher Ace Spec?

Price: Unknown

Set: Temporal Forces

Card Text:

You can have 1 Ace Spec In your deck.

Switch in 1 of your opponent’s Benched Pokémon to the Active Spot. If you do, switch your Active Pokémon with 1 of your Benched Pokémon.

You may play any number of item cards during your turn.

Prime Catcher is what is known as an Ace Spec Card. Ace Spec cards are strong trainers or special energy cards. These cards possess immense power, so we restrict them to one per deck. The Black & White Series set Boundaries Crossed initially introduced Ace Spec cards. This new card category continued throughout the Black & White series.

On March 22nd, 2024, Temporal Forces will reintroduce these potent cards, including Prime Catcher.

Prime Catcher has gained attention for its powerful ability that blows other Ace Spec cards out of the water. This card is similar to a Pokemon catcher in appearance and has a similar ability without the need to flip a coin and has the addition of switching your own active Pokemon. Prime Catcher lets you switch one of the opponent’s benched Pokémon to the active spot. If you do, you must also switch their active Pokémon with one from the bench.

This card has a purple holographic design and the words Ace Spec on either side. The top of the card has a blue and purple gradient. The artwork shows the Prime Catcher using its beams with a staggering holographic background with a blue and orange gradient. I love the design of this card.

Why Prime Catcher Is So Powerful?

Prime Catcher is powerful because its ability provides Gusting and switching in one card. This card lets you change your active Pokémon and your opponent's with just one card. With Prime Catcher, you can easily create favourable matchups and take control of the game.

Additionally, many people have noticed that this card is similar to a Guzma card from Burning Shadows. However, Prime Catcher has a key advantage: it is an Item card so abundant cards like Arven can easily search the deck and find Prime Catcher. Being an Item card means on the same turn as you use Prime Catcher, you can still use a supporter card. This opens up the possibility of utilising the potent combination of Prime Catcher with Iono. Iono would be able to disrupt your opponent's hand. Then Prime Catcher could disrupt the bench.

Prime Catcher Uses In Decks

Prime Catcher is a versatile card that works in any deck. Temporal Forces hasn't been released internationally yet, but the Japanese equivalents, Cyber Judge and Wild Force have already hit the shelves. In Japan, Prime Catcher has been used in nearly every important deck. These include Charizard ex, Gouging Fire ex, Ancient Box, Raging Bolt ex, Roaring Moon ex, Iron Valiant ex, Gholdengo ex, Miraidon ex, Chien-Pao ex, Origin form Palkia and Lost Zone Giratina. Prime Catcher isn't the best Ace Spec for all of these decks but this does show how versatile and powerful this card is.

Prime Catcher Collectability

Prime Catcher is a very collectable card because of its popularity and illustration. It is an amazing-looking card. It might be my favourite item card ever! It has got a beautiful Holo foil design that pops. However, it is too early to predict the price. It will have a good value for an item card but likely will not be anything crazy. The value will increase by players purchasing the card for its incredible power and usability in the Pokemon TCG. Additionally, past Ace Spec cards have varied in price due to their use in the game. The less popular Crystal Edge ace spec in ungraded condition has a price of $3. On the other hand, the more widely used Computer Search has a price of $23 in ungraded condition. Setting a good trend for Prime Catcher but please keep in mind these Ace Spec cards are old and have had time to appreciate in worth.

Final Verdict

Prime Catcher is the headline Ace Spec card. This card has the potential to dominate the meta and rise in price. Even though this card might be overkill. It will be interesting to see how the card will fit into new and current decks. Thank you for reading Why Prime Catcher Ace Spec Is OP a Card Review.
